Elvin Hsieh

Elvin Hsieh is a Bay Area–based violinist recognized for his versatility as a performer, educator, and music business professional. He began his violin studies at the age of five with Xiaoli Chen, and went on to train extensively with distinguished pedagogues including Li Lin, Chen Zhao, Ian Swensen, Varty Manouelian, and Movses Pogossian — renowned faculty affiliated with leading music institutions such as The Juilliard School, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and UCLA.

He made his solo debut with the California Youth Symphony after winning the CYS Senior Orchestra Concerto Competition, performing Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto. A dual instrumentalist, Elvin has appeared both as a violinist and violist in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Rudolfinum in Prague, and he has served as concertmaster for multiple orchestras throughout California.

Elvin earned his Bachelor of Music degree from UCLA on full scholarship, where he studied under Varty Manouelian and Movses Pogossian. During his time there, he was the winner of the All-Star Competition and performed Chausson’s Poème as a featured soloist on the Duke of Alcantara Stradivarius violin with a Voirin bow.

An active performer when not working, Elvin has collaborated with various orchestras and chamber ensembles across California and throughout Europe. His performances have been broadcasted on radio stations and featured in independent film projects.

In addition to his performing career, Elvin is deeply engaged in music business and education. His primary role involves currently serving as the Artistic Operations Manager of the Golden State Youth Orchestra. A dedicated pedagogue, he also maintains a thriving private studio of violinists and violists, and has served on faculty at multiple Bay Area music schools. He is frequently invited to coach youth orchestras and K-12 schools, and his students have earned recognition in regional competitions and participate in leading ensembles throughout the Bay Area.

Beyond the classical music space, Elvin has contributed to the commercial music industry through work in artist development, marketing strategy, and live event production. His experience includes involvement in campaigns for major top-40 artists such as Gracie Abrams, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to today’s musical landscape.
