Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joshua Choi is an active violist based in San Francisco..As a performer, Choi strives to give a fresh take on standard “classical music”, and introduce audiences to new frontiers through works by underrepresented and living composers. With a passion for chamber music and new music, their performance opportunities have taken him around the world, experiencing cultures other than their own, and ultimately influencing and broadening their own musical rolodex.
Choi holds a Master’s Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where they studied with Dimitri Murrath and Jay Liu. Other influential teachers and mentors include the Telegraph Quartet, Matt Young, Dr. Stephanie Allen, and Richard Marshall.
